Searching for The Light

That’s what photographers do and sometimes it’s hard to find or to recognise. It is good to avoid bright sunlight and blue skies which lack drama but give unpleasantly contrasty shadows. Soft early morning light creates gorgeous effects and in old buildings the light falling on someone through a window when you’re shooting at right angles to them sculpts them beautifully. I have been developing my portfolio of portraits shot on location and here are some that I hope you will enjoy together with a studio image. The wonderful models and dancers it has been my pleasure to work with made each of the shoots a delight.

I have been to the old cemetery at Arnos Vale in Bristol, the Pit Studio in Nottingham ( two derelict floors above a pub in Nottingham so definitely a ‘location’ in my book), a lovely medieval site near Witney, a ruined church at Tintern and the old bonded warehouses in the Cumberland basin in Bristol. I do hope that you like the results.
